I just saw a local car sales commercial run on TV by a well-known local car dealer. Two of the owners stood in front of a Christmas tree and spoke "from the heart" about their relationship to their customers and hopes for their happiness. The bottom line is to plant warm seeds in customers' hearts for future sales. They were okay with me, until they finished up by saying "Happy Holidays" twice to close the ad.
I wanted to take them by the shoulders and shake them to wake them up! To them, I ask, "How many cars do you intend to sell under Shariah law?" That's where this is leading. Christianity is being asked (or told) to make all the concessions for the comfort of all the "other religions". Have you noticed that a great part of the other religions is that there ARE NO concessions? Well guess what? There are no concessions in Christianity, EITHER!
First of all, Christianity is NOT a religion. Put very simply - it's a RELATIONSHIP! Religions are man-made things, as are denominations. And there is nothing there for us, as men, to concede! One can only concede part of what is his or hers to concede. In the end, what we are conceding is our own salvation.
I've heard so many people say something along the lines of "shouldn't we share our country with all "religions" and make them comfortable and welcome?" They also say that Islam is a religion that will never impose its beliefs upon us. Here's the difference - Christianity is separate from government. Christianity is the foundation on which we are built, as a nation. Government is just that - GOVERNMENT! However, in Islam, the religion is also the government - one and the same.
If anyone still believes that we are safe from Shariah law (one of several), all they need to do is look to the UK, where Islam has been allowed to set up its "system" of law. As I write, there is a case where a Muslim father has performed an "honor killing" on his own daughter. This is perfectly acceptable under Shariah law, but is murder under the long established law-of-the-land. Or, rather, what was the law-of-the-land, until now. Will the law prosecute this man as has been set forth for hundreds of years, for murder, or is he protected under Shariah law? Is the UK now under dual law, and will one only have to proclaim his faith to be prosecuted (or forgiven) under the law that best suits him? We'll see, won't we?
Anyway, I bought one of the best cars I've ever owned from the aforementioned dealership. I'll never buy another car there, unless they return to proclaim their faith. Many would say to me, "What a petty thing!" No, it's NOT a petty thing, and neither is conceding my faith to eventually live under the laws of another "faith".
I can't possibly place my finger on the exact date of the birth of my Savior, Jesus Christ. But we have come to celebrate it during this season (and many of us celebrate it on a day-to-day basis). Merry Christmas! Happy Birthday, Jesus!
